[Introduction] [Stations] [Instruments] [Event Identification] [Data Archiving] [References] [People]

Lists of all local and teleseismic events and arrival times which were detected by the SOSN are currently being sent on a monthly basis to the seismic data centres in Ottawa (GSC) and Colorado (NEIC).

The events are achived to Exabyte tape on a monthly basis in the original Nanometrics file formats. Before Dec. 14, 1999 the data files from the direct-line stations (ACTO, WLVO, TYNO, STCO, PKRO and BRCO) are in Nanometrics Y1 format. After Dec. 14, 1999 the events are stored in Nanometrics X5 format. All the data files from the remote dial-up stations (RD01, RD02, RD03 and RD04) are in Nanometrics X5 format.

Local events of interest are converted to standard SEED (Standard for the Exchange of Earthquake Data) and sent directly to the GSC Seismology Laboratory in Ottawa over the network. The technical staff in Ottawa is notified by E-Mail whenever a SEED file is sent to their computer disks. Official locations and depths are computed by the GSC.

The events are also archived to CD-R (Compact Disc Recordable) in the original Nanometrics file formats along with event information and plots suitable for viewing in a WWW (World Wide Web) browser.
